This is one of my favorite true to life story book. It's about Irene Watson's roller coaster life where she manage to handle her life ups and down. I certainly admire her for keeping her strength from battling her dark past and offer forgiveness. Honestly, I can see myself to her, we both experienced abuse in our life but in different ways. There's a similarity when it comes to dealing with people we trust most, yet they are the one who badly mistreated us. Anyway, Irene Watson's is a very succesful woman and famous author. She did a lot of accomplishment in her career. I wish someday I can write a book like this and share the whole world my roller coaster life. You can get a copy at Barnes and Noble, scroll down to read the overview.

Overview

Named for a childhood swing the author remembers as being impossible to get moving because of the rose bushes directly behind it, Watson's memoir recounts her fearful, highly sheltered years growing up an only child to Ukrainian immigrants in 1940s Alberta, Canada. Watson writes from the hindsight of her 50s, living in a Quebec addiction-recovery facility, where she has checked herself in for 28 days, unsure whether she can stay married to a husband she considers as overbearing as her mother was to her. Gradually, Watson uncovers the childhood wounds leading to her personality crisis: until age six, she lived in a log cabin in the wilderness within a few feet of her prohibitive mother, who pined for her dead firstborn son. Watson was largely ignored by her farmer father, abused by cousins and neighbors, and unable at first to speak English at her schoolhouse or make friends. Denied expression and love within the family, she acted out and married a man who helped continue to make excuses for her lack of ambition. She undergoes a rigorous 12-step program and a systematic breaking down of her ego so that she can re-create herself. This is an earnest memoir, well structured, though the writing lacks rigorous urgency.

In the decades since Oprah became a media fixture, she has introduced the world to her best friend, her nutritionist, her interior designer, and her stylist. She has shared her favorite beauty products, her most cherished books, her philantropic endeavors, and her deepest secrets. In fact, there seems very little that Oprah is unwilling to share-particularly when it comes to the latest episodes in her never-ending spiritual journey.

New York Times best-selling author Stephen Mansfield traces the contours of Oprah's fascinating and influential life with a particular focus on Winfrey's quest for spiritual enlightenment. It is a well-publicized quest-one that features a caravan of experts, mystics, and gurus-all claiming to have a prescription for inner peace and personal well-being.

As the poster child for a generation of spiritual seekers and free-thinkers, Oprah has sent decades defining her spirituality as a form of empowerment that discourages absolutes and welcomes any ideas that appear useful, freely blending Hinduism, Buddhism, Taoism, and the Christianity of her troubled but formative youth.

Mansfield carefully reconstructs Oprah's life experiences and shows how they reflect our larger cultural journey. He also reveals why her spiritual discoveries have resonated so loudly among her fellow Baby Boomers and have secured her unprecedented influence in our adoring modern world. In so doing, Mansfield sheds light on the dangers of a spiritual journey fueled solely by the desire for self-actualization.

In the end, we find that the story of Oprah is, in fact, the story of us-of a generation desperately searching for something meaningful to believe in.

This book is about Oprah's biography and her spiritual beliefs. I found this book quite enlightening and engaging. Readers can relate to her spiritual life. If you're a big fan of Oprah and a christian, you must read this book. We all know that Oprah made a huge impact to everyone's life. She helped many lower income family, homeless and even lost people. She has a talent that brings smile to everyone. Even right now, she shared her experiences world wide. If your a follower of her, you know the Oprah's lifeclass. She's a wonderful woman with a good heart.

What can you do when life doesn't turn out like you planned?

How do you respond when your husband or wife tramples your emotions? When your boss fires you unexpectedly? When you lose your life's savings? When the child you've loved and prayed for turns his back on you and your values?

When disappointments like these smash their way into your life, you may want to scream, "How could God let this happen?"

But what if God didn't just "let it happen?" What if the things you call disappointments are really His appointments-events He is using to make you more like Christ? What if your circumstances are actually the flames of His grace, intended to melt and burn away the undesirable elements in your life, leaving you pure and radiant-like refined silver?
You can be defeated by life's unaviodable disappointments, or you can become stronger because of them.

Life's disapppointments can send you on a dangerous downward spiral into discouragement, depression, or even despair. But in this eye-opening book, Kay Arthur guides you to biblical truths that will help you break that cycle and instead embrace disappointment as the cleansing fire God uses to make you-as silver refined-a reflection of His goodness.

I was excited the moment I received this book. I like to read it right away because its about life disappointments. Honestly, I have plenty of that so I was wondering this book could help me. Unfortunately, when I read the book, I wasn't impress enough. I dont know but the book doesn't touch my heart that well. But I was lucky to received a copy of this from Waterbrook Multnomah Publishing group. You can get a copy of this at Barnes and Noble.

Reeling from an unexpected betrayal, Sylvia makes a painful mistake that forces her to seek work far from her family.
Can she find relief from the echoes of her past...or will they shape her future forever?

Although Sylvia Fisher recognizes that most Old Order Amish women her age spend their hours managing a household and raising babies, she has just one focus-tending and nurturing the herd on her family's dairy farm. But when a dangerous connection with an old beau forces her to move far from home, she must concentrate on a new start and pour her energy into reviving a debt-ridden farm.

After months in rehab, Aaron Blank returns home to sell his Daed's failing farm and move his parents into an easier lifestyle. Two things stand in his way : the father who stubbornly refuses to recognize that Aaron has changed and the determined new farmhand his parents love like a daughter. Her influence on Aaron's parents could ruin his plans to escape the burdens of farming and build a new life.
Can Aaron and Sylvia find common ground? Or will their unflinching efforts toward opposite goals blur the bigger picture-one revealing the path to forgiveness, glimpses of grace, and the promise of love?

This book is great, I just finished reading it. I could not put this book down because I can relate part of her life. Her story is very uplifting and encouraging. She shares her struggles being a single mom because of her husband betrayal, the death of her parents in a tornado, and from poverty to being famous wife of NFL superstar and a millionaire, also she was a marine officer decided to be a stay home mom, as well as the miscarriages of two babies. I highly recommend this book to everyone. You can get a copy at Barnes and Noble. I just want to say thank you Booksneeze Company for providing me a free copy of this.

Brenda Warner is best known as the outspoken wife of NFL superstar and Dancing with the Stars alum Kurt Warner. But years earlier, she found herself living through any woman's nightmare; a healthy baby tragically injured in the bathtub; a sudden end to a career she loved; betrayal and divorce; poverty; public humiliation; a deadly natural disaster that destroyed her foundation and shook her to her core. One shattering phone call at a time. Brenda Warner's life came to resemble little of her dream.
But each time her plans fell apart, Brenda faced a choice; to collapse in the face of tragedy or press forward and survive. She chose to keep going. In the process, she's learned that the unexpected is only one call away. Her story provides hope and encouragement for anyone facing life's challenges and shows us that our circumstances don't tell us who we are, nor are they a measure of God's love. God has a plan for us, even when our plans fail. Brenda's life is proof that sometimes the best dreams are not the ones we dream. but the ones that come true when we least expect them.

"So today I've been thinking about...things that bind us. The thought flitted around my mind and then landed for a while, likely because I was wearing a pair of too-tight heans."

Women of Faith speaker and author Lisa Harper relates from experience-life can be uncertain, sometimes even scary. But with a witty twinkle in her eye and a Bible in her hand, she describes what it's like to find real security in the arms of a Savior who doesn't just notice us but who moves heaven and earth on our behalf.

Part diary, part devotional, Stumbling into Grace weaves hilarious and poignant stories from Lisa's own life with intimate and transformational encounters from the life of Christ. Prayers, reflection questions, and journal prompts help women deep into biblical truths to better understanding how our Redeemer's compassion, affection and constancy make every single moment of life not only more enjoyable but well worth living!

If you have kids or relatives age 8 - 12 years old, I suggest to inform them about this book. A great story about slavery in the United States of America happened before the civil war. Believe it or not back then children were extremely abused by their own parents. Thats true, they were treated so bad. Children were suffered and struggled so hard to find ways to elope from their evil parents. Poorly, human rights wasn't existed at that time thats why parents can easily get away without punishment. This story will help young children to understand what is right and wrong, to speak and stand up for them selves without fear. An interesting story that you should read and pass on to your children. I strongly recommend this to all parents, teachers and children this will be a good discussion topic. You can purchase this at barnes & noble.

A young nurse, Sara Dautry - whose autistic brother, Vince, has been arrested for the murder of their Catholic priest - decides to conduct her own investigation. Refusing to believe that he committed the crime, even though he was found at the murder scene with the alleged weapon, she convinces her former nursing - school study group to help her prove his innocence by using hypnosis to travel back to the moment of the crime.
When the FBI finds out her plan, they try to stop her by using weather manipulation. They fear that if she does find out the truth about the priest's murder, she will want to go public with the information - especially since it could incriminate them.
And when the Vatican learns that the crime scene was damaged by wind to possibly hide evidence, they think the U.S. government may have been involved.
Then for fear of hostility between the Vatican and the U.S., the CIA launches their own investigation.
Along the way, Sara learns that Dutch artist Vincent Van Gogh and the Shroud of Turin have some hidden secrets that could change the way believers think about the Roman Catholic Church. She also learns that its not always a good idea to experiment with science.
Thus by unraveling a massive conspiracy involving powerful political players, Sara's life - as well as the lives of her friends and family - is put in danger.

If you like politics, I think this book is what you're looking for. You'll get a lot of tactics on how to run and win in any public office. If you idolize President Barack Obama, his political strategy was clearly stated in this book. Aside from that, you'll learn how to give heavy criticism to certain politician. The author of this book bravely expressed his negative thoughts to the President of the United States. He sharply criticized the Obama's administration. Obviously his not a big fan of him which I totally understood. In my point of view, I thought he can provide affordable health care insurance to all Americans. He even fought to overhaul the entire health care plan and signed the bill. I just don't get it why until now lower income family cant afford to buy it eventhough they have two jobs. Is that what he promised? Well, I think we need more prayers on that. Anyway, you can purchase this book at barnesandnoble.

How Barack Obama is dismantling hope and change
By Kevin McCullough
"Yes We Can! Yes We Can! Yes We Can!"
Accepting his party's presidential nomination in the summer of 2008, Barack Obama beamed while Denver's stadium rock with gauzy chants from adoring admirers. But looming beyond the deafening roar was a harsh reality that too few were willing to face just yet: Some "hope" is too audacious to believe, and just because a smooth stalker proclaims something, doesn't make it true.
Now, long after the honeymoon has ended and the national mood soured toward the 44th U.S. President, nationally syndicated radio talk-show host and columnist Kevin McCullough - the first pundit to predict Obama's rise to the presidency - provides an alarming perspective on the man he has watched closely since the aspiring commander-in-chief was an obscure community organizer on Chicago's South Side.
You'll learn:
  • How Barack Obama's first act as President was to sign into law taxpayer-funded abortion
  • How his administration has systematically and intentionally created federal dependents
  • Why Obama's actions prove he believes American Exceptionalism is a myth
  • The outrageous lenghts the president is willing to go to as he undermines our national security

From Obama's radical economic policy and dubious skills in national security to his administration's disdain for individual liberty and constitutional constraints on the power of the executive branch. McCullough lays out a convincing case for why, early on, he labeled Obama "one of the most dangerous politicians our generation will see."

Yet the story doesn't end there.
